The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (“DPH”) announced that flu shots will be required for all students in daycare, schools and colleges throughout Massachusetts.
The new regulations mandate that children 6 months of age or older must receive immunization from influenza by December 31, 2020 unless the student claims a medical or religious exemption. Students who are homeschooled or college students who will be learning remotely for the school year are exempt from the regulation. However, students enrolled at the elementary and secondary school level are not exempt, even if those students have opted to learn remotely for this year. Please reach out to Peter Farrell of Tamkin & Hochberg LLP at [email protected] if you have any questions regarding returning to school this Fall.
